When we bring the crane

Big trees, no room to drop them

Most trees come down by climbing and rigging. The crane is for the jobs where there's nowhere safe to lower wood, or the tree itself is too weak to climb. It's often faster, and it keeps heavy pieces from ever touching your roof, deck or lawn.

Over the house

Tall pines and oaks leaning over roofs, garages and additions.

Pools, patios and gardens

Nothing gets dropped on what you've built or planted.

Dead or hollow trees

Too risky for a climber. The crane holds each piece before it's cut.

Trees on the house

Lifted straight up after a storm so the roof isn't damaged further.

How a crane job goes

Planned to the foot

1

Site visit

Richard checks where the crane can set up, what's overhead, and where each section will land.

2

Setup

The crane sets up in the drive or street, protective measures go down, and the work zone is roped off with cones and tape.

3

Lift and lower

A climber rigs each section to the crane before cutting. The operator lifts it clear and sets it down for the ground crew, all on radio.

4

Cleanup

Wood chipped and hauled, stump ground if you'd like, and the site raked clean.

Mac's crew guiding a section of tree on the crane line

★★★★★

“Anyone that’s had any experience observing big, potentially dangerous things being moved and precisely placed know this crew knows what it’s doing.”

Ralph Newman

★★★★★

“Richard and his crew removed 2 trees that were over 100 feet tall and 2 others that were about 50 feet… Once they completed the work, you would hardly know (other than the now missing trees) that anything was done.”

Mike Brittingham

Crane questions

Does a crane cost more?

The crane itself adds cost, but on big or difficult trees it often cuts the work time a lot. Richard will tell you honestly whether your job needs it.

Will the crane damage my driveway or lawn?

No. Protective measures go down under every machine we bring, from the skid steer to the crane. When the job is done, you'd never know Mac's had been there.

Do I need to do anything before the crane arrives?

Move cars out of the drive and keep kids and pets inside during the lift. If the crane needs the street, we'll talk about that at the site visit.

How long does a crane removal take?

It depends on the size and number of trees and how the crane can set up. Your quote will include a timeline, cleanup included.
